2012 Baselworld and de Grisogono introduce their Tondo By Night Timepieces and in so doing sets Baselworld aglow with color & light. There are six colors that soak up the sun by day & come alight at night in brilliant colors: white pink purple yellow green & orange. The gently oval-shaped watches are housed in a new case material – a pearly photoluminescent composite fiberglass (PLF). The brand worked with an external laboratory to develop this new material which has tiny pieces of mother-of-pearl to give it the very distinctive sheen & color. Work was also done to ensure that the watch was perfectly comfortable to wear. The case size is large but the brand acknowledges the move by women to wear larger watches. All bezels are blackened stainless steel which forms the setting for the precious stones used in each color: diamonds sapphires tsavorites & amethysts. The dial is black continuing the sparkle set by the bezels the reverse oscillating counterweight is set with 60 matching stones used on the bezel. This creates a moving display of color and light.de Grisogono completes the watch with beautiful matching color Galuchat (shark/ray skin) straps.
